Pinolith/Pinolite
This stone has an intriguing history, which has lead to what we feel is relatively less spiritual knowledge being available for it as compared to some other crystals. For a long time, it was difficult to find on the market and expensive when it could be found. Now, new deposits have been found, making this stone more available – so let’s dive in!
Pinolith is a combination of Howlite, Dolomite, and Graphite that was first discovered in 1873 in Austria. Its high Manganese content meant this stone was valuable as a raw material for steel production, which became its primary use - especially for the Germans during World War II. Mining of Pinolith for Manganese continued up until 1991. Most of this was melted down, making specimens rare. Mining began again in 2013, but it wasn’t until 2018 that a new deposit was discovered – or rediscovered – in Canada. Given this history, it makes sense – to us, at least – that we had trouble finding the rich and varied spiritual information that we can typically reference for other stones!
So, what do we know, spiritually-speaking? Well, Pinolith is believed to help us access our Crown, Heart, and Root Chakras in concert, creating a channel for grounding and inner exploration. It is also said to serve as an amulet to provide strength and support as we venture through life. Because Pinolith is so old, geologically speaking, it is said to help us connect to ancient Earth energies.
The truly exciting part of this story is that we get to explore and expand our spiritual knowledge of this stone together, in real time. Carry it with you, meditate with it, and see what you experience! Shop Pinolith Here!
We also would like to take this opportunity recommend a fantastic book by one of our favorite crystal authors, Judy Hall. It’s titled “Judy Hall’s Complete Crystal Workshop,” and it provides an excellent blueprint for getting to know the energy of crystals.
